Florida Federation of Italian American Clubs 2007 PERSON OF THE YEAR
Col. Richard N. Conforti, Jr.
After traveling and seeing the world, the Colonel decided to make Florida his family base of operation. Col. Conforti said that Florida is Paradise. He presently lives in Coconut Creek with his wife Cassandra, who is a native Floridian, and their four children.
Col. Richard N. Conforti, Jr. is currently serving in the United States Air Force on active duty as the Chief of the Personnel Recovery Branch, United States Southern Command. He received his commission from AFROTC Detachment 155 and completed fighter pilot training at Holloman AFB in New Mexico.
Colonel Conforti is an accomplished and trained
pilot for F-16, F-111, and a HH-60G Pavehawk. With all his training, he has
been integrally involved in many rescue missions and credited with saving over
50 lives in natural disaster and combat operations.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Col. Conforti received 4 Air Medals (one for Bravery Under Fire). His other Military decorations include:
Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters Air Force Commendation Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device and Five Oak Leaf Clusters Combat Readiness Medal with Eight Oak Leaf Clusters Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal Air Force Expeditionary Medal
